Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

Vision

To be a distinguished center for nurturing the holistic development of globally competent young engineers and researchers in the field of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.

Mission

To inculcate and stimulate Electronics and Telecommunication expertise by adopting to global innovative educational and research practices to create dynamic engineering professionals with enhanced technical skill set and hence global acceptability.

About Department

Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering is a coactive product with a mission of developing graduates capable of contributing to the advancement of electronics and telecommunication engineering. A team of 40 Teaching and 14 Technical Staff members under the leadership of Dr. Mousami V. Munot unanimously harnesses its potential in all aspects to take the department to greater heights. The Bachelor of Engineering Program in E & TC commenced from the academic year 1995-1996. The current student intake capacity is 240. There are 15 well equipped laboratories in the department. The Faculty consists of Head of the Department, Senior Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and Visiting Faculty. The first batch of M.E. was inducted in 2006 with an intake capacity of 18.

  1. Provide students with a solid foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals.
  2. Prepare the graduates of the program to excel in their technical and professional careers and be leaders in fields of E&TC engineering.

  1. Apply knowledge and principles of mathematics, transform methods, probability, applied differential equations, discrete mathematics in support of electronics and communication system.
  2. Analyze, design and implement communication systems and electronics sub system that confirm to given specifications.
  3. Demonstrate skills to use modern electronics engineering test and measurement instruments and proficiency in hardware and software integration.
    1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science,
      engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the
      solution of complex engineering problems.
    2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
    3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
    4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
    5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
    6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning in formed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
    7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
    8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
    9. Individual and teamwork: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
    10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
    11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
    12. Lifelong learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

    • a. MICROWAVE LAB : AWR Microwave office. CAD FEKO, MATLAB, Vector Network Analyzer ( Up to 14 GHz), Microwave Integrated Circuits, Antenna Measurement setup etc.
      b. PICT-NI ADVANCED COMMUNICATION LAB : Established LabView Academy equipped with Universal Software Defined Radio ( USRP ) and LabView Software
      c. WIRELESS NETWORK LAB
    • 8. Students are carried out their M.Tech. Dissertation work in various state of the art technologies such as Cognitive Radio, MIMOS, Ternary Systems, Micro strip, Re-Configurable Antennas, Fractal Antenna, Textile Antennas Satellite Communication & Image Processing.
