About IQAC


As per UGC and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) guidelines PICT established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure. Quality enhancement is a continuous process, the PICT IQAC has been an important part of the institution and works towards realization of the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance.

PICT was accredited by NAAC in 2004 for the first cycle, in 2010 for the second cycle, in 2017 for the third cycle and in 2023 for the fourth cycle with A+ grade. PICT IQAC continued to strive for the betterment of the overall performance of the institute.

Objective of IQAC


The prime Objective of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the overall performance of the institution, facilitate internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices.

Functions of IQAC


1. Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for the various academic and administrative activities of the institution catering to the requirements of NBA, NAAC, NIRF, Autonomy, and Ranking agencies
2. Gathering the updated information on rules, guidelines, procedures, manuals and dissemination of the same to all the stakeholders
3. Organization of workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles and enhance the awareness amongst all the stakeholders
4. Guiding all the concerned and coordinating in laying down the procedures, processes for compliance of accreditation and ranking agencies
5. Acting as nodal agency and facilitation of all the activities including timely submission of AQAR, AAA, SSR, SAR, NIRF, Ranking Data, and all the related documents to comply with accreditation and ranking processes
6. Any other work assigned by authorities related to accreditation, ranking and autonomy on time to time basis.

Quality Initiatives under PICT IQAC


PICT IQAC has initiated the following quality initiatives and institutionalized significant improvements in the quality assurance and overall performance of the institution.

  • 1. Carried out a detailed study and analyzed the requirements of NBA, NAAC, NIRF. etc.
  • 2. Disseminated the Accreditation and Ranking requirements through various seminars, FDPs, and workshops.
  • 3. Identified Key Quality Indicators, developed a KQI document with benchmarks to cater to all Accreditation and Ranking Expectations as a guiding document for the entire institution, departments, committees and faculty to continuously record the status with respect to benchmarks, monitor the progress and set the targets. The KQIs include both qualitative and quantitative metrics.
  • 4. Proposed an action plan for achieving better score in accreditation and ranking
  • 5. Developed a framework for Academic and Administrative Audit in accordance with NAAC guidelines and including all the Key Quality Indicators, conducted frequent academic and administrative audits on teaching learning, academic and administrative practices and processes, in addition to the regular audits conducted at department level by Program Assessment and Quality Improvement Committee (PAQIC), ISO internal and external audits at institutional level.
  • 6. The audit reports, and the status of progress with reference to the Key Quality Indicators is presented in IQAC meetings, actions are initiated as per the suggestions received from the members, Action Taken Reports (ATRs) are prepared and disseminated.
      a. IQAC also conducted regular mock accreditation of NBA, NAAC to monitor the preparation and provided inputs to all the functional heads on regular basis.
      b. Facilitated the implementation of Outcome Based Education through
             i. Promoting the faculty members to attend various faculty development programs in the areas of pedagogy, domain expertise, research, and life skills
             ii. Encouraging the Faculty members to attend online/offline programs conducted by reputed institutions, NPTEL, Coursera, etc.
      c. Facilitated all the teaching faculty to register for NPTEL certification program on pedagogy courses
             i. Faculty Members Certified by NPTEL on Pedagogy/OBE : ~~80
             ii. Effective Engineering Teaching In Practice
             iii. Outcome Based Pedagogic Principles for Effective Teaching
             iv. Engineering Ethics
             v. Accreditation and OBE 7. Prepared a Training Policy, circulated after approval.
      8. Assisted the institution Director/Principal in preparation of Institutional Strategic Development Plan and got it approved by Governing Body
      9. Facilitated many faculty development programs and skill upgradation programs for non-technical staff.
      10. IQAC has collaborated with Indo Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) and PICT signed an MoU.
             a. Initiated PICT IUCEE Centre for Innovative Teaching Learning
             b. Many academic heads and faculty participated in
                 i. IUCEE International Engineering Education Certification Program (IIEECP)
                 ii. Annual Leadership Summit
                 iii. PBL, OBE and other clusters
                 iv. Organizing Committee Members in Conference, Symposium
                 v. Conducted a survey on effective implementation of Problem/Project Based Learning from faculty and students, conducted a session to all the faculty and motivated the faculty to implement innovative pedagogical methods including PBL.
                 vi. Faculty members participated in Mini Symposium on P2BL, submitted a report on P2BL and received an award as one of the best reports.
      11. Submitted institutional report on Project and Problem Based Learning(P2BL) in IUCEE Mini Symposium on P2BL and won as best report of Rs 3000/-
      12. Conducted a National Level online NAAC Sponsored National level Faculty Development Program on ‘Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches for Quality Assurance through performance indicators in Engineering Institutions’ during 2-6 May 2022 with a grant of Rs 28,000/- received from NAAC
